Anthemic folkrockers Raglans set a very loose brief for the creation of their ‘Natives’ and ‘Digging Holes’ single covers. Their general idea; simple, surreal scenes that would provoke intrigue and questions without answers.
Immediately the medium of collage seemed ideal for creating simple yet surreal imagery. Magazines and stock photography websites were raided for the gathering of various characters, objects and settings to create strange little scenes with. From that point on it was a fun and intuitive process of cutting and pasting images together until something intriguingly odd yet visually striking emerged. Because of the big emphasis on imagemaking, a simple but sturdy type treatment was crafted for the band name and song titles.
